Chris began his lifelong passion for aviation in 1999 when he took his first rotor wing flight lesson. It wouldn’t take long for him to become hooked and he knew he couldn’t find happiness in any other profession. He soon found himself working for a local flight training academy, taking any opportunity to work near his newfound love. While working for the academy, he would assist in the fleet’s routine maintenance to gain as many hours as he could to fund his own Flight Training. After collecting a copious number of hours flying a variety of flights, he decided to start his own flight school and touring business. He partnered with his long time colleague Seth Hallock and together they founded SunState Helicopter Tours. In his spare time Chris enjoys riding his Harley and spending time at the lake.
Located in the Scottsdale Airpark in Scottsdale, Arizona, SunState Helicopter Tours LLC offers local valley tours, helicopter photo flights, and part 61 flight instruction as well as a host of other helicopter services. We provide VIP transportation, aerial survey services, 360-degree aerial tours, wedding services, hangar rentals, special event support, photography & videography services and just about anything you can imagine!
SunState was founded by Chris Dobkins in 2014 with a vision of providing a unique and memorable way to experience the magnificent Valley of the Sun. In addition to our tour flights and services, we offer many levels of flight training which targets both junior and senior skill levels. We currently operate the R44 Raven II. Chris (a 24-year veteran pilot) is passionate about helicopters and truly loves to fly! Our goal is to provide memories you’ll cherish for a lifetime and provide the safest experience for both you and your loved ones. And to this day, we maintain our perfect safety record.
